Flirting With The Competition Entangled Lovestruck edition by Kerri Carpenter Contemporary Romance eBooks
This fun and flirty novella is the story of Whitney and Jordan. When they find themselves trapped in an elevator on the way to a job interview that they both really need, initial animosity gives way to an attraction that both surprises and dismays them. In the end will the competition for the job ruin their chances of starting up something wonderful?I really loved this story. What I enjoyed most was the humorous tone of the author in the internal monologues of both Whitney and Jordan. They were both strong characters with real reasons why getting this job was so important to each of them. Being stuck in an elevator together required them to go beyond the social niceties (or non-niceties in the beginning) and reveal something more personal about each other, resulting in a deeper level of understanding and an attraction that becomes more than superficial. There is chemistry between them, and when they act on it, the resulting make-out scenes are steamy and well written. The resulting conflict and resolution were well handled and made for a sweet ending. It was a fast paced, sexy, sometimes laugh out loud read and a great addition to the Lovestruck line. 5 stars!

Flirting With The Competition Entangled Lovestruck edition by Kerri Carpenter Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
What a fun, lively, bantering story of two very aggressive individuals who are seeking the same job. They are pretty much cut-throat about needing to win the position at the prestigious law firm, but for very different reasons. On the day of their interview, they both arrive after a tumultuous start of their day not realizing they had previously met before they step into an elevator that is meant to take them to their interview. Life intervenes and the elevator gets stuck between floors. Without giving many spoilers, they soon realize that they are headed for the same interview. Whitney immediately dislikes Jordan who seems to be a spoiled rich guy with no regard for others, and her impression isn't helped by the fact he had nearly ran over her in the parking garage earlier that morning. Being stuck in the elevator made it hard for them to at least not talk to each other, and that is when the fun begins. It is a hate/love relationship with insults hurled in the beginning, and as the day progresses and they find they will be stuck longer than anticipated, they end up talking amicably. Not only amicably, their love/hate relationship grows into much more as Whitney finds he is not such a jerk after all, and Jordan sees a truly beautiful, energetic woman that he could grow much more fond of. You will love finding out what happens at the interview and how the story ends. You won't be disappointed.
The book is well written, the story flows and keeps the interest very well. The story is one that you will find hard to put down once you start to read. I think Kerri will be an author that we will hear much more from in the future with many well written books.
This was a really quick, fun read with a ton of tension, sarcasm and wit thrown in. I enjoyed the verbal sparring between Jordan and Whitney, it was fun to watch as the attraction and tension between them mounted. Add in being trapped in an elevator while they are both on their way to very important interviews and the stakes are really high.
I know there has to be drama and there has to be a reason why Whitney’s so against Jordan in the beginning, but I really do hate assumptions. I hate that she assumed she knew who he was because of the type of car he had. She was sort of right, but there was so much more to Jordan than that. He had his own assumptions about Whitney and a lot of them were spot on, but there was more to her too. It gets frustrating as a reader that sometimes those assumptions get in the way. Thankfully, the elevator seemed to eventually overshadow everything.
This was my first book by Kerri Carpenter and I enjoyed it. I look forward to reading more by her in the future.

I am definitely in the minority here. I didn't care for this one. SPOILER--- First, the heroine was a _itch in my opinion. she is in a parking garage, everyone I have ever been in regardless of time of day, they are darker than the outside! she steps from the back of a vehicle into the roadway and she gets all bent out of shape when she is almost hit. In that situation, I would think the rational person would pay more attention to her surroundings and be sure the coast was clear --of vehicles and unsavory characte4rs!
Now the "jerk" that was driving the BMW is just that, a jerk. One because he almost hit her and two because he was driving an expensive car. For the rest of the story, that I read, she refers to him as a jerk and a few other choice names. She took no responsibility for her part in the near accident. So she gets into the building and they wind up on the elevator together. he doesn't know her from Adam and she seems to be all bent out of shape because he didn't recognize her as the almost hit victim. Then she proceeds to dress him down because he apparently has money and we of the poor always hate those that have!!! Personally, she got on my last nerve. I thought all her actions were those of an absolute _itch. Now, I realize he was turned-on by her snarky attitude, etc. but at this point I am thinking that just about anything female would turn this guy on.
I didn't feel a lot of love for either of these characters. Liked him better than her though. So, I quit reading. The elevator ride was really getting on my last nerve. You really want to piss off someone that you are stuck on an elevator with and you have no idea how long you will be there? Doesn't make sense. Of course with this self-righteous __itch you really would just love spending more time with her. I just did not like her at all.
The story was not for me but doesn't mean you want enjoy it. So you read and decide. I believe it is short so not a lot of time would be wasted if you don't care for it.
I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am a reader and this is just my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.
